<div class="trix-content"> <div><strong>About the Role</strong></div><div><br></div><div>The weekend Studio Assistant supports visitor engagement in the Studio and Ground Floor Gallery at Modern Art Oxford. You will create a safe and friendly welcome, to support a lively, social atmosphere within the Studio which plays a significant role in building lasting relationships with visitors and families. The Studio Assistant will encourage reflective conversations with visitors as they arrive, providing context for the space and resources by demonstrating their use with the prompts provided. This is a practical role, and you are encouraged to develop your own creative skills while keeping the space tidy and presentable throughout the day.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><strong>About the Studio</strong></div><div><br></div><div>Inspired by all our exhibitions, the Studio is a family-friendly, social environment designed to inspire learning for all ages by encouraging visitors to explore, experiment and play. The Studio welcomes 4000 visitors a year who often visit the space to socialise with friends, and relax. Families with young children regularly use the space to play and visitors of all ages enjoy spending time in the studio to experiment with the materials provided. Modern Art Oxford invites the practical use of this space to anyone who will benefit from having access to a studio like atmosphere. The studio is a shared space which is open to the public throughout the week and weekends and is also home to our regular projects Make Play and Young Creatives, as well as holiday workshops, short courses and&nbsp; evening classes which take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Please note: This role offers weekend hours only, with additional opportunities to assist other programme activities with the Communities, Practice &amp; Participation team as appropriate.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Duties</strong></div><div><br></div><ul><li>Facilitate activities in our Studio on Saturdays and Sundays, utilising the materials provided.&nbsp;</li><li>Encourage visitors to take part in the current programme activities and upcoming events.&nbsp;</li><li>Support Modern Art Oxford Producers with delivery of weekend workshops.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain accurate records on attendance..</li><li>Set up and pack down workshop activities with the guidance of producers.&nbsp;</li><li>Engage families with Activity Backpacks, maintain materials, and record feedback.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>Responsibilities</strong></div><div><br></div><ul><li>Assist all visitors in accordance with MAO’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure the Ground Floor Gallery and Studio are kept clean and tidy throughout the day.&nbsp;</li><li>Encourage visitor feedback via comments cards and surveys, alert the Duty Manager of any complaints.</li><li>Treat all visitor feedback in a calm and professional manner.&nbsp;</li><li>Follow Health and Safety and building security practices at all times.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>Person Specification</strong></div><div><br></div><div><em>Essential Skills and Interests</em></div><div><br></div><ul><li>An active interest and commitment to contemporary arts practice&nbsp;</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Experience of working with the public and of providing excellent customer service</li><li>Experience of assisting or supporting workshops (preferably in art spaces such as galleries)</li><li>A self-motivated, creative and collaborative approach to team work with an ability to work independently</li><li>Experience of working with diverse materials and media.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><em>Desirable Skills and Interests</em></div><div><br></div><ul><li>An understanding of the principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.</li><li>Training in First Aid.</li><li>Experience of monitoring and evaluation.</li><li>Knowledge of safeguarding principles.</li></ul><div><br></div><div>Please note: The successful candidate will have access to a range of training opportunities at Modern Art Oxford<br><br>Please apply with a CV and supporting statement (no more than one side of A4).&nbsp;</div><div><br></div> </div>
