Key responsibilities 

 Volunteer Strategy and Service Delivery
  • Co-ordinate the planning, delivery and ongoing development of an effective volunteer plan and volunteer service across Scottish Refugee Council
  • Oversee the development, implementation and regular review operational policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, risk assessments and health and safety standards
Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Consult with managers and staff to identify meaningful volunteer roles that align with organisational, strategic and project objectives
  • Develop strategies to attract volunteers
  • Develop recruitment strategies 
Training and Development
  •  Oversee the design, delivery and evaluation of volunteer induction, training and ongoing development programmes to equip volunteers with necessary skills
  • Develop quality control standards and processes for volunteers
Volunteer Engagement
  • Champion volunteer recognition initiatives 
  • Monitor feedback from volunteers and ensure continuous improvement based on volunteer input 
  • Address challenges, conflicts or concerns in a timely and supportive manner
  • Represent volunteer needs and feedback to colleagues, including Senior Leadership Team
Administration 
  • Develop systems to monitor and evaluate volunteer activity, report on engagement metrics and maintain accurate volunteer records/databases
  • Prepare high quality reports on volunteer impact, engagement and retention
  • Keep up to date with legislation, policy and best practice relating to volunteering
  • Manage resources and budgets related to volunteer activity
Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Line manage Volunteer Co-ordinators, setting clear expectations and goals for the team and supporting their performance and development
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with external agencies to promote inclusive volunteering opportunities for refugees and people in the asylum process
  • Represent Scottish Refugee Council in volunteering networks and forums
  • Provide guidance and support to staff across the organisation to embed best practice in volunteer management 
  • Lead on the renewal of Scottish Refugee Council’s Investing in Volunteers accreditation every 3 years
