We are seeking an organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Travel Consultant to join our Edinburgh-based team. In this role, you will form a key part of the sales team, responsible for the creation of customised itineraries for luxury travellers from around the world.
Your role is consultative and sales-driven; developing a deep understanding of clients’ motivations and plans and designing luxury tour itineraries to meet their requirements. You will manage inbound leads allocated to you, nurturing relationships, developing a sales pipeline and driving conversions. You will work closely with our operations and product teams to ensure seamless execution of the client experience and outstanding guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Sales
- Respond to inbound leads (web, email, phone) from prospective luxury travellers.
- Develop in-depth client engagement to understand preferences, motivations, and “dream trip” priorities.
- Use knowledge of MV Luxury Travel’s brands to design tailored itineraries that align with client needs.
- Prepare proposals, pricing, and detailed itineraries; present them in a compelling way that emphasises value and exclusivity.
- Close sales and achieve (or exceed) revenue targets.
Product Knowledge & Development
- Continuously build and maintain deep product knowledge of destinations, luxury hotels, local guides, transport and experiences.
- Monitor supplier relationships and feedback insights to operations to improve product offering.
- Identify and suggest new experiences or partnerships that align with MV Luxury Travel’s brand vision.
Sales Administration & Reporting
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of client enquiries, proposals, bookings, and follow-ups in our CRM system.
- Track sales pipeline and forecast future bookings; produce regular reports for Sales Manager.
- Collaborate with marketing to help craft campaigns (e.g., newsletters, social media, luxury travel events) based on client insights.
- Oversee client booking process: confirm arrangements, liaise with operations, and ensure accuracy of reservations.
Professional Development & Industry Engagement
- Stay abreast of luxury travel trends, competitor offerings, and high-end travel market dynamics.
- Attend luxury travel trade shows, supplier events, and fam trips as required.
- Undertake personal research / “site inspections” to expand your destination knowledge and authenticity in sales conversations.
Preferred role-specific Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in luxury travel sales, preferably in a tour operator or agency environment but possibly from a luxury hotel setting.
- Strong consultative sales skills: ability to build rapport, ask the right questions, and propose high-value solutions.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to write compelling proposals and speak confidently with affluent clients.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Highly motivated, target driven, and proactive.
- Digitally skilled and able to work across a wide range of systems.
- Ability to work flexibly: may require some out-of-hours client meetings or follow-ups.
- Passion for travel, and ideally first-hand experience of luxury travel in the UK & Ireland.
