About The Role

Secret Mode is now seeking a Technical Designer to join our dedicated core development team 

We are currently in search of a highly skilled Technical Designer to join our team. As a Technical Designer, you will bridge the gap between game design and programming, leveraging your technical knowledge to bring engaging and innovative gameplay experiences to life. In this exciting role you will not be confined to a single desk function; instead, you will be heavily involved in designing, planning features and building new content to our existing catalogue of games to drive revenue and increase player engagement. 

The core of your responsibilities will involve designing and implementing new and engaging features, levels and content using tools such as the Unity Engine or Unreal Engine. 

 

Key Duties Include

  • Designing and implement gameplay systems and mechanics in conjunction with the Programming Team. 
  • Use scripting and programming to create and maintain game mechanics and systems
  • Develop and maintain design tools and pipelines to improve efficiency and workflow for the design team
  • Balance and adjust gameplay elements to create a compelling and enjoyable experience for players
  • Collaborate with artists and programmers to integrate and iterate on gameplay features
  • Document and communicate design ideas and principles to the development team
 

Requirements

  • Expertise in game design principles and mechanics
  • Proven experience as a Technical Designer in the gaming industry
  • Experience with game engines and design tools, such as Unreal Engine or Unity
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as C++
  • Experience with game engines and design tools, such as Unreal Engine or Unity
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Passion for games and an understanding of player engagement
 

Travel Requirements

This role requires you to be in our Leamington Spa studio for two days a week and may involve occasional travel to events.
