About Us:
Magnetic Shields Limited (MSL) is a family-run industry leader in the design and manufacture of magnetically shielded products and rooms. Our state-of-the-art factory, equipped with high-power fibre cutting laser and full stock automation, has more than doubled our production capacity over the last 5 years. This period of expansion is an exciting time for the company, and we are looking to speak to applicants interested in joining our engineering and physics teams as a Systems Engineer.
Role Overview:
MSL is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development and delivery of complex multidisciplinary engineering systems across the company’s product and project portfolio.
The Systems Engineer will act as the technical interface between the Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Software, Production, and Installation teams, ensuring that system-level requirements, interfaces, integration activities, and technical risks are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle. The Systems Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager.
The role requires a broad engineering understanding combined with strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills. The successful candidate will help ensure that individual subsystem developments integrate into coherent, reliable, manufacturable, and commercially successful systems.
Systems Engineering & Technical Coordination:

- Develop and maintain system architectures, interface definitions, and integration strategies.
- Ensure subsystem compatibility and alignment with overall project objectives.
- Support decomposition of customer and business requirements into engineering deliverables.
- Maintain technical traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
Integration & Verification:
- Plan and coordinate system integration activities.
- Develop system verification and validation plans.
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities where required.
- Investigate system-level technical issues and coordinate root-cause analysis activities.
- Ensure that designs meet functional, performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
Technical Documentation & Configuration Control:
Produce and maintain system documentation, including:
- System requirements and specifications
- Interface control documents
- Test methods and protocols
- Verification reports
- Risk registers
- Technical review documentation
- Support engineering change control and configuration management processes.
- Ensure technical documentation remains accurate and controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
