I need some support with my personal care so prefer my support team to be female. I also have my own car, so you will also need a driving license that lets you drive a car with a manual gearbox.
A BIT ABOUT ME
I’m an enthusiastic and energetic 32-year-old lady who lives in Denny with my parents. The people who know and love me say that I have a wicked sense of humour and that I can make anyone laugh.
I am part of number of amazing groups where I have a lot of friends. I have a great social life- I also like some days just to chill in my room listening to music, watching Disney movies and just playing around on my phone.
I also love learning. Some of those things might be skills that mean I can be as independent as possible but others like learning a new foreign language are just about the joy of learning.
MY IDEAL PERSON
You’ll be: -
- Full of energy and enthusiasm
- Chatty
- Prepared to leave your inhibitions at the door
- Good at making people feel relaxed if they need a bit more time
You’ll also be comfortable around dogs, appreciate that my parents are my anchor and be a non-smoker who doesn’t vape.
ABOUT THE JOB
I need support with day-to-day things like:
· My personal care
· Shopping
· Getting out and about
As well as preparing a meal from time to time
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT OF THE JOB:
If you are working for me during the working day, you will usually start at my house at some time between 9:00am and 11am (depending on what the plan is for the day). Sometimes you will start by giving me a bit of a hand to get washed and dressed and prepare breakfast but there will be days when I’ll up and raring to go when you arrive.
I attend some activity and leisure groups each week and on those days our plans once I am organised to leave are more or less set in stone. We leave to drive to Cumbernauld or Coatbridge. When I am in class, I like to socialise with my friends so I might move around the room. This means you don’t have to be with me at all times, as long as I know you are nearby should I need any help.
When I don’t have an activity to attend, I’ll normally chat you through my plan for the day before we head off. My plan will nearly always include stopping somewhere for a spot of lunch as well as going to the cinema, bowling or maybe just having a day at home to chill.
We usually head back home mid to late afternoon. When we get back, we tend to have a cup of tea and we let my mum and dad know what we’ve been up to. After that you head off home.
On days when I want to hang at home, I have my own sitting room so we can play some games, watch a Disney movie or have a sing song on my karaoke machine.
If you are working for me into the evening, I might be going along to a group in my local community or have plans to see a show or a gig.
Although I love living with my mum and dad, and they are very chilled about what I do and where I go, I like to get away on my own for a few nights a few times a year. One of those trips is always before Christmas so I can go my Christmas shopping and the others are usually when the weather is a bit better rather than when it is cold and miserable out.
WHEN YOU WOULD NEED TO BE AVAILABLE TO WORK:
I like to have time hanging with my family without someone else there to support me. This means I tend to have someone working for me 4 days a week and for 5-8 hours on each of these days. I am looking for someone who can work for me three of these days every fortnight.
My support is organised using a 4-week rolling rota and any weekend work (I don’t always want support at the weekend) is shared proportionately between the members of my team.
I don't like being supported by strangers, so my remaining team all need to be willing to work a bit extra when one of the team is off work for some reason.
I also like to have a few short breaks away each year. I will give you plenty of notice about the timing of these, but you would need to be able to leave your other commitments behind for a couple of days from time to time.
