Help children with disabilities laugh, learn and thrive every day.
At White Lodge, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive. As a Surrey charity, we support children, young people and adults with disabilities and neurodiversity through specialist care, therapy and life-enhancing services. We help people build confidence, gain independence and enjoy fulfilling lives within a welcoming, inclusive community.
Treetops is our specialist children's home, providing Short Breaks in a safe, welcoming, and fun home-from-home environment for children and young people with disabilities, neurodiversity, and complex needs, up to the age of 18.
We have created a home where children and young people can feel safe, valued, and supported to thrive. Every day is filled with opportunities to learn, laugh, build confidence and create lasting memories. Guided by compassion, inclusion and respect, our dedicated team works together to help every child reach their potential. We're proud that Treetops is rated Good by Ofsted (February 2026).
We have full-time and part-time permanent opportunities available. This role includes working every other weekend and at least one split shift per week.
The Role
Every day is different. One day, you might be baking cakes, exploring the local community or getting creative with arts and crafts. Next, you'll be supporting a child in achieving a personal goal, celebrating a milestone, or simply being the reassuring presence who helps them feel safe and valued.
In addition, you will:
- Help children enjoy fun, active and meaningful days
- Plan creative activities and memorable experiences
- Support children to develop confidence, independence and life skills
- Create a safe and nurturing home-from-home
- Build trusted relationships with children, families and colleagues
- Provide high-quality personal care and support to meet each child's healthcare needs.
- Work as part of a dedicated team to deliver exceptional care
We're looking for someone who is:
- Kind, patient and compassionate
- Positive, supportive and approachable
- Passionate about helping children and young people thrive
- Able to communicate in a way that meets the needs of different children and families
- Calm, reliable and able to adapt to different situations
- Willing to learn and develop through training
You'll also need:
- Experience working or volunteering with children and/or young people, or transferable experience in a caring or support role.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and data protection
- Basic IT skills
- To hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or an equivalent Level 3 qualification)
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check before starting employment
It would be great if you also have:
- A full UK driving licence
- Additional relevant childcare or health and social care qualifications
We'll help you succeed
You don't need to know everything on day one. From your first shift, you'll receive a comprehensive induction, specialist training and ongoing mentoring to help you build the confidence and skills needed to support the children and young people in our care.
Why join White Lodge?
- Friendly, supportive team
- Comprehensive induction and mentoring
- Specialist disability training
- Funded Level 3 qualification (where applicable)
- Opportunities to develop your career
- The chance to make a genuine difference every day
