Role Summary
Cambridge United Football Club are offering sports Science work placement opportunities for the 2026-27 football season. The successful candidate(s) will gain first-hand experience of working within an elite Sport Science and Performance department at a professional level. The candidate(s) will work closely with the existing Sport Science, Performance, and Medical staff, assisting in the delivery of services to the 1st Team and Academy players to minimise the risk of injury whilst also optimising the physical performance capabilities of the players.
This season long work placement is designed for students currently studying a Sport Science related degree, who are looking to gain valuable experience in an applied setting. The aim of the placement is to provide the candidate(s) with practical and applied knowledge, skills, and hands on experience throughout to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained and applied experiences within the field.
Key Job Outcomes
• Assist with players daily monitoring strategies.
• Assist with daily training equipment preparation.
• Assist in the delivery of squad pre training activation sessions.
• Assist in the delivery of squad screening and fitness testing sessions.
• Assist in the design and implementation of individual S&C programs.
• Assist in the delivery of individual rehabilitation program’s (gym and pitch based).
• Assist in data analysis and reporting systems.
• Assist in the delivery of pitch-based athletic development and conditioning sessions.
• Assist with real-time training load monitoring (GPS).
• Fulfil any other relevant duties as directed by the Performance and Medical staff.

Person Specification
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience Required/ Desirable
Currently studying a Sport Science related degree
FA Introduction to First Aid, FA Safeguarding Children
Experience working independently and as part of a team
IT Skills, including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
Previous experience working with athletes and youth athletes

Hardworking and enthusiastic
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Reliable and committed
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and manage a varied workload
