Location: Somerset Heritage Centre, Brunel Way, Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton TA2 6SF
Hours: 22.2 hours per week, usual working days will be Tuesday, Wednesday and a third day to be agreed with the line manager. The post may include occasional evening and weekend work.
Salary: £24,521 per annum pro rata
Contract: Temporary, 18 months starting in September 2026

Following the grant of £1m by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to support the regional Sounds of the South West project, we are looking for a Project Assistant to be based at the Somerset Heritage Centre in Taunton. 

Working with the Somerset Archives and Local Studies team and the Devon Archives and Local Studies team, you will assist with preparation of sound recordings for digitisation and the care and cataloguing of the digitised versions, rights clearance of digitised recordings, preparation of outreach and engagement activities through the project, and supervision of volunteers working on the project. 
 
You will need excellent communication and administrative skills as well as a willingness to learn about the different services of the Trust. 
 
The South West Heritage Trust is an independent charity which delivers a broad range of heritage services across Somerset and Devon. With a turnover of c. £5 million each year, we manage and run two Archives and Local Studies services, three museums (including the Museum of Somerset), and we look after the historic environment in Somerset, including over 400 acres of reserves.
