- Willingness to complete the National Centre for Smoking Cessation Training (NCSCT) e-learning module (‘very brief advice on smoking’) and Smokefree Sheffield training, including advice on raising the topic of smoking and information on Sheffield’s stop smoking service offer | E

Job purpose:
Sheffield Mind's Smoking Cessation Project offers individual and group support to people with mental health needs who have quit or are trying to quit smoking. This is a new and small service with one member of staff and a volunteer student attached. The role involves working with people close to their own homes, in the community and at our Wellbeing Centre in Sharrow.

The successful applicant will also receive ongoing support and regular supervision from their line manager, the Director of Services together with day-to-day support provided by Sheffield Mind colleagues.
The SCW will link with a variety of key stakeholders including:
· Voluntary sector providers including Sheffield Mind’s other services
· Smokefree Sheffield and community partners
· Clients, family members and carers

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enable individuals with mental health issues who want to quit smoking, to access Smokefree Sheffield services by attending first appointments with the service user and, subject to capacity, attending further appointments with individuals who struggle with anxiety/motivation.
- Talk to groups of service users in community settings, about getting ready to quit and the support that’s available do this.
· Encourage peer support through facilitating an hour-long weekly drop-in where service users can come together, to support each other and talk about the challenges/triumphs of quitting and about their mental health.
· Promote the service internally to our own service users and peer support groups, including Rainbow Minds.
· Liaise with Smokefree Sheffield to ensure efficient referral routes and enable us to promote their work effectively and accurately.
· Host Smokefree Sheffield Clinics at our Wellbeing Centre.
- Work with the Smoking Cessation volunteer when needed.
- Provide administrative support to the delivery of the project and use the Lamplight database to maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions with clients.
- Provide the commissioner with monitoring on the service’s key performance indicators (KPIs).
Other Tasks
· Actively participate in supervision with the Director of Services
· Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.
· Work to Sheffield Mind policies and keep up to date with any changes or updates.
· Actively promote and ensure good equal opportunities practice and work in an anti-oppressive manner.
· Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Sheffield Mind policies.
· Support and contribute to the charitable and fundraising work of Sheffield Mind, as appropriate.
· Carry out such other tasks as are required to meet the aims and objectives of the organisation and contribute to the smooth running of the service.
