A permanent Site Foreman role, based in Avonmouth Docks, Bristol.

Your new role
 
The Site Foreman will be responsible for overseeing daily operations at project sites, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of abnormal load transports, heavy lifting operations, and the coordination of site teams. You will play a critical role in managing on-site logistics, people coordination, equipment mobilisation, and compliance with health and safety standards, while maintaining strong communication with project stakeholders.
 
The Site Foreman is accountable for:

  • Team Leadership - Manage and coordinate teams of supervisors, operators, and other site staff to ensure smooth execution of projects; brief the team on a weekly basis on a Monday morning, including daily Toolbox Talks and ensure recorded. Approve timesheets of land-based operational staff.
  • Site Operations Management & Communication – Manage and oversee the day-to-day activities on site, ensuring that all operations are performed safely and efficiently. Ensure information and details of deliveries to HPC are accurate and shared with HPC Site Final Mile Team in timely manner.
  • Operational Planning – Work closely with the Project Manager to plan manpower and equipment required for Avonmouth, Combwich and C182, with a minimum 2 week lookahead.  Ensure plan is fixed and agreed a minimum of 1 week out and if there are changes, advise and communicate these to the Project Manager. 
  • Problem Solving - Address and resolve on-site issues that may arise during operations, such as mechanical failures or changes in project scope, escalating to the Project Manager for support and keeping them informed.
  • Health & Safety Compliance - Enforce adherence to QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) standards, conducting safety briefings and ensuring all site activities comply with RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements).
  • Equipment Mobilisation – Manage the mobilisation and demobilisation of heavy-lift equipment, including SPMTs (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters), MHE (Mechanical Handling Equipment), cranes, and other heavy lift equipment between sites.
  • Reporting – Work closely with the Operations Coordinator, preparing daily reports on project progress, equipment usage, and safety incidents, keeping the Project Manager and QHSE team informed.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication - Act as the main point of contact on site for clients, ensuring clear communication and manage expectations; attend project meetings (in person and on Teams) where required.
 
What you’ll need to succeed
 
Essential Criteria

  • GCSE’s or similar
  • CITB HS&E SUP or MAP 
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Forklift/Telehandler
  • IPAF
  • First Aid at Work
  • UK Driving Licence
  • A minimum of 7 years’ demonstrable experience in supervising or managing site operations within a construction, logistics, or a similar site operations environment
  • Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams, including supervisors, operators, and site office staff
  • Demonstrable experience as the main on-site point of contact for clients
  • Experience with mobilising and working with various mechanical handling equipment (MHE)
  • Ability to identify and escalate to management teams, potential issues related to safety and/or equipment failure through diligent day to day operations and excellent housekeeping practices
  • QHSE standards and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to understand and interpret RAMS

Desirable Criteria 

  •  Either Site Supervisor's Safety Training Scheme (SSTS) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification
  • Either NVQ Level 3 Diploma in occupational work supervision or NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Construction Site Supervision
  • CSCS Supervisor Card in relevant field
  • NEBOSH or working towards
  • CPCS Red/Blue Card – Slinger Signaller
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising or managing site operations within the heavy lift industry involving large abnormal load transports either in UK or globally
  • Experience with mobilising and working with heavy equipment like cranes, Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), installation equipment, and barges/vessels
  • Planning manpower and equipment requirements for different scopes of work across multiple sites
  • Experience in preparing and submitting accurate daily or weekly progress reports
  • Experience of working in Civil Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Renewables, Railway, Nuclear, Ports environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and lift plans
  • Negotiation skills
  • Able to be flexible and adapt to changes in scopes, timelines, and requirements – these can be last-minute changes

Please note if you are required to drive company vehicles as part of your role, you must hold a full clean UK driving licence. You must also hold valid right to work within the UK.
