Senior Scientist – Cell Biology

Our mission is to unlock the therapeutic potential of complex and challenging disease targets that are intractable to traditional discovery methods. We achieve this by using our discover platform to identify functional Microcycles to modulate targets within their native intracellular environment and using these to design and develop a pipeline of small molecules.

Job Summary

We are seeking an outstanding and ambitious senior scientist with experience in a range of cell biology techniques to join the dedicated team and you will be responsible for running the required assays as we develop our innovative therapeutics pipeline.  This role will also need someone who is ideally experienced in partnering and working closely with CRO’s. 

 Responsibilities

  • Culturing and maintenance of mammalian cell lines in either  2D or 3D.
  • Designing and implementing cell-based assays using a variety of molecular and functional endpoints, to support selection and progression of molecules.
  • Interfacing with external partners to deliver data according to project needs.
  • Effective communication within project teams to enable timely decision making.
  • Support new target selection and validation.
  • Excellent record keeping through writing detailed scientific reports, SOPs and risk assessments.

Experience

  • PhD in a Life Science subject such as Cell biology, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry.
  • Experienced in establishing cell models suitable for drug screening e.g. through genetic manipulation of cells or developing 3D models.
  • ·Ability to develop robust cell-based assays from scratch (including appropriate validation and quality control) and utilizing these to deliver decision making data.
  • Proficient in lentivirus or CRISPR editing techniques.
  • Experience of screening of CRISPR, mRNA or phage display libraries is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of human disease biology, particularly oncology or inflammation.
  • Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining innovative approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present complex data to diverse audiences.
  • Prior research experience within industry, particularly in assay development or high throughput screening, is highly desirable.
