Job title: Safeguarding Officer
Location: Remote – with site support as and when required (to include Tuesdays)
Hours of work: 21 hours per week
Department: Operations
Reporting to: Designated Safeguarding Lead
Salary: £15,250 [£25,417 FTE] – £18,820 [£31,366 FTE] depending on experience
Salary Band: Management
Job purpose
To safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk within Kerith Community Church.
Main duties
Policies & Procedures
· To regularly update the church Safeguarding Policy, ensuring it reflects current legislation and guidance.
· To ensure that the Policy is followed across all the church locations.
· To advise staff and volunteers on safeguarding procedures.
· To advise staff and volunteers on procedures where there is a safeguarding incident or concern and ensure that appropriate action is taken.
· To liaise with other professionals and agencies, as appropriate.
· To produce a risk assessment where there is a positive DBS check.
Data Handling
· To ensure that all safeguarding concerns have been logged, dealt with appropriately and stored safely using the My Concern system.
· To be the Data Protection Officer for Kerith Community Church, advising on its appropriate handling of Data and follow up with any data breaches.
Training & Development
· To keep up to date with current legislation and wider safeguarding issues.
· To liaise with external Safeguarding providers for regular training to staff and volunteers.
· To meet fortnightly with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
· To liaise with the Safeguarding Trustee when appropriate & produce a report for Trustees meetings.
Safer Recruitment
· Oversee the Safer Recruitment processes.
· To line-manage the Safer Recruitment Administrator.
Person specification
It is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder is a person professing and practicing the Christian faith.

Essential:
· Basic Disclosure check
· Willingness to undertake further training
Desirable:
· Level 2/3 Child and Adult Safeguarding

Essential:
· Experience of having worked with children and adults at risk · Some experience of working with a range of professionals to promote the welfare of children and adults at risk

· Child and Adult Safeguarding legislation in the UK

Essential:
· Strong organisational skills
· Report writing
· Maintaining accurate records
· Computer literate (MS Office)
· Good communication skills
