We run a successful visitor attraction on the Antarctic Peninsula, at Port Lockroy, one of six heritage sites in our care. Port Lockroy is a popular visitor landing site for ship-based visitors during the Austral summer (November – March) welcoming ca. 18,000 visitors each season to the island. The island has a museum, penguin colony, gift shop and post office. Visitors to Antarctica are projected to grow, however, the capacity at Port Lockroy is limited and we are not planning to increase visitor numbers beyond these.
