About The Role: 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Take ownership of multiple Magnetically Shielded Room projects from initial requirements and internal handover through design engineering, manufacture, shipment, installation and completion. 
• Take ownership of internal improvement projects from initial requirements gathering, supplier management (with Procurement), progress tracking and site acceptance management.
• Develop, maintain and own detailed project plans, including key milestones, dependencies, resources and critical paths. 
• Coordinate activities across Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality, Physics, Logistics and Installation to ensure effective end-to-end project delivery. 
• Monitor project progress against agreed deliverables, timescales and budgets, taking corrective action where required. 
• Identify, manage and communicate project risks, issues, constraints and dependencies. 
• Proactively identify potential delays, bottlenecks and resource constraints and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve them. 
• Lead regular project meetings and reviews, ensuring clear actions, responsibilities and deadlines are agreed and followed through. 
• Provide clear and timely project reports and updates to senior management, customers and other key stakeholders. 
• Liaise with customers and external stakeholders where required to ensure project requirements, timescales and expectations are understood and effectively managed. 
• Act as a key interface between MSL and our installation teams, ensuring installation requirements are considered throughout the project lifecycle. 
• Coordinate and manage changes to project scope, requirements, priorities and timescales. 
• Monitor project costs and budgets, highlighting potential variances and supporting appropriate corrective action. 
• Ensure appropriate project documentation, records and reporting are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. 
• Support successful project handover and completion, including post-project reviews and lessons learned. 
• Develop positive and effective working relationships across the business, encouraging collaboration between departments. 
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve project delivery processes using appropriate continuous improvement and root-cause analysis techniques. 
• Ensure project activities and associated processes comply with MSL's Quality Management System and ISO 9001 requirements.

Essential Skills/Requirements:

• Proven experience managing complex engineering, manufacturing or technical projects. 
• Demonstrable experience managing projects through multiple stages of delivery, ideally from initial requirements and planning through manufacture and final delivery. 
• Strong project planning and organisational skills, with experience managing milestones, dependencies, risks and competing priorities. 
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to achieve project objectives. 
• Strong understanding of project risk, issue and change management. 
• Commercial awareness, including experience monitoring project budgets, costs and delivery performance. 
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve project delivery issues. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to work with customers, colleagues and senior management. 
• Able to work effectively within a collaborative and cross-functional environment. 
• Comfortable working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams rather than managing projects remotely from the operation. 
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using project planning/reporting tools. 
• High level of organisation and attention to detail. 
• Able to manage multiple priorities and maintain momentum across several projects simultaneously.

Desirable Experience:

• A recognised project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent. 
• Engineering, manufacturing or other relevant technical qualification. 
• Experience working within complex manufacturing, scientific instrumentation, aerospace, defence, medical devices, electronics or another highly engineered environment. 
• Experience delivering bespoke or low-volume/high-value engineered products. 
• Experience managing customer-facing projects. 
• Experience coordinating installation, commissioning or site-based activities. 
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system. 
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems. 
• Knowledge of LEAN or other continuous-improvement methodologies. 
• Experience working within a matrix or multidisciplinary organisation
