The business has a state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Ulverston, South Lakes, where the role will be based.

The role:
As a Production Planner/Buyer, you will join a small, highly customer-focussed Materials team, part of our Supply Chain function.  The team are responsible for the planning of the production workload, and ensuring the necessary materials are available to achieve the plan.  The role also involves an amount of buying dealing directly with suppliers.  The role will report to the Planning Manager and will involve both planning and purchasing responsibilities.  

The opportunity:
The role will suit someone with an aptitude towards systems and with previous experience of working in a production planning role.  The work is busy, varied and requires someone with a strong attention to detail.  It suits someone who can self-manage and prioritise, with direction from the Planning Manager when required.

Job responsibilities:
  • Run material and production planning routines at agreed intervals
  • Process Production Orders
  • Conduct periodic Capacity Reviews with Production
  • Liaise with Sales to provide accurate lead times for sales and service orders
  • Closure of production orders, financial analysis, fixes, and explanations
  • Tracking stock at suppliers
  • Review/create/process/expedite purchase orders
  • Basic sourcing: Supplier relationship and performance management, price negotiation.
  • Manufacturing data management:  Creation of Part Records, Bills of Material and Production Routings.

Qualifications and experience:

Essential:
  • 2 years previous experience of working in a Production Planning environment and using an ERP system for stock control.
  • Possessing a strong attention to detail and an analytical approach will be essential.
  • You will be comfortable using the fundamentals of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • You will possess the confidence and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships, both internally and externally, with technicians and non-technicians.

Desirable:

  • Buying experience – direct contact with suppliers.
