Role
The Producer, Early Years & Families is a part-time fixed-term two year role responsible for the planning and delivery, development and evaluation of Modern Art Oxford’s programme offer for babies, toddlers, young children and their families and carers. The position forms part of the Creative Learning & Participation team and is managed by the Senior Curator, Creative Learning & Participation.
Main Responsibilities
• To work with the Creative Learning & Participation team to research and devise creative workshops for Make Play and family activities as part of the public programme at Modern Art Oxford, bearing audiences of diverse abilities and background in mind.
• To deliver excellent, accessible and inclusive workshops with a strong commitment to early years education and an enjoyment of creative visual art practice and play.
• To carry out risk assessments for workshops and ensure that any control measures are followed.
• To develop regular holiday activities outside of term-time, utilising the materials in our Creative Space for young visitors, including workshop opportunities as they arise.
• To provide introductions for schools and university groups, local community groups and visitors at specific events.
• To work with colleagues to plan and manage project expenditure including processing invoices, monitoring expenditure and contributing to the preparation of estimates.
• To undertake general administration including responding to bookings for Make Play and Family Tours, ordering materials, organising travel and hospitality for sessions, recording sessions through photographs and archiving.
• To maintain accurate records on attendance and activities and to co-ordinate evaluation and feedback to inform best practice in participation and creative learning.
• To update and maintain mailing lists and contacts relevant to the Make Play and family activities, including contacts with local partners as appropriate.
• To collate and prepare information for reporting as required by the Senior Curator, Creative Learning & Participation.
• To participate in staff team activities and attend professional training as necessary and as requested by the Senior Curator, Creative Learning & Participation.
Person Specification
We are looking for an arts professional (artist, curator, educator) with strong interest in creative socially-engaged practice and with relevant experience devising and delivering early year’s projects, working with children from all backgrounds. This role requires a highly proactive team worker who demonstrates the importance of effective, consistent communication in a dynamic organisation delivering a range of engagement activities. It is imperative that the position holder is astute in observing safeguarding practices for all workshop participants in accordance with Safeguarding and Health & Safety policy, which includes risk assessments ahead of workshops.
Essential
• Relevant experience of working in Early Years education.
• Experience of participatory methods in the arts education.
• Demonstrable experience of working with diverse materials and media.
• Creative, resourceful and responsive user-centred approach.
• Self-motivated and collaborative.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• DBS checked and trained in safeguarding.
• Good IT, administrative and organisational skills.
• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• An interest in and commitment to the work and values of Modern Art Oxford.
Desirable
• Experience of delivering projects and workshops in art galleries and museums.
• Experience of delivering Arts Award Discover.
• Knowledge of equal opportunities issues and practices.
• Knowledge of office procedures and practice
Position: Producer, Early Years & Families (Part-time, fixed term)
Responsible to: Senior Curator, Creative Learning
Salary: £10,400 (£26k fte pro rata)
Tenure: Fixed Term, 2 Years April 2022-March 2024
Hours: 2 days per week(0.4 fte) Thursdays and weekends depending on the programme, some flexibility required
Probation: Three Months
Notice: One week either side during probation. Thereafter, the
notice period will be six weeks in writing on either side.
Holiday: 13.25 days
(25 days per annum plus 8 public holidays pro rata )

Pension An auto-enrolment pension scheme is in place with
Legal & General. Eligible employees will pay 5% (before tax relief) and the employer will pay 3% of qualifying earning.
