Salary: £38,413 - £42,235 (commensurate to experience)
 
Job Purpose
 
The Operations Executive will play a key leadership role in the Devon Cricket Foundation (DCF), supporting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in delivering the organisation’s strategic objectives. The Operations Executive will lead and manage the Community & Schools and the Clubs & Competitions departments, ensuring the effective delivery of grassroots and recreational cricket across Devon. They will also contribute to the overall governance, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability of the organisation.
 
Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Management
 
  • Provide strategic leadership and management across the organisation, ensuring alignment with the DCF’s vision and objectives.
  • Support the CEO in the development and implementation of the organisation’s Strategic Plan.
  • Deputise for the CEO as required, representing the Foundation in key meetings and public engagements.
  • Line manage 4-6 direct reports across the Community & Schools and Clubs & Competitions departments
  • Contribute to business planning, ensuring a sustainable and impactful approach to cricket development across Devon.
  • Nurture and develop partnerships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, schools, community organisations, and commercial partners.
 
 Community & Schools Cricket Development
 
  • Lead and manage the Community & Schools department to increase participation in cricket across all demographics.
  • Oversee the delivery of community programmes, including initiatives to promote cricket among underrepresented groups.
  • Work with schools and local organisations to enhance opportunities for young people to engage in the game.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and inclusion policies across all community-based programmes.
  • Take responsibility to measure the impact of our community and school programmes
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders such as The England & Wales Cricket Board, the Lord’s Taverners, Chance to Shine and the MCC Foundation.

 Clubs & Competitions Development
 
  • Manage the Clubs & Competitions department, ensuring the effective running of junior leagues, competitions, and recreational cricket activities for children.
  • Build and nurture relationships with our adult leagues throughout the county.
  • Ensure high quality support is provided to clubs in relation to governance, funding, and sustainability, providing strategic guidance on club development.
  • Continue to promote and drive equality in clubs by championing and supporting the growth of Women & Girls’ cricket, Disability Cricket and for underrepresented groups.
  • Develop initiatives to support new volunteer recruitment and retention within club cricket.
 
Operational & Financial Management
   
  • Work closely with the CEO and Board to ensure robust financial planning and budget management.
  • Identify funding opportunities and contribute to grant applications and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Support the CEO in maintaining good governance practices and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Oversee monitoring and reporting processes, ensuring effective data collection and impact measurement.
 
 Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement
 
  • Maintain strong relationships with relevant key stakeholders.
  • Represent Devon Cricket Foundation at meetings, forums, and networking events.
  • Act as a key advocate for cricket development in Devon, promoting the game’s growth and inclusivity.
 
 Person Specification
 
Essential
 
  • Proven leadership and management experience within a sports development or community-based organisation.
  • Strong understanding of grassroots and recreational sport, particularly within cricket.
  • Experience in strategic planning and delivery.
  • Ability to manage and motivate teams to deliver high-impact programmes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
  • Knowledge of governance and safeguarding standards in sport.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A passion for the development of cricket and community engagement.
 
 Desirable
 
  • Experience working with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) or sporting organisations.
  • Knowledge of club cricket structures and competition frameworks.
  • Experience in securing funding and managing sponsorship relationships.
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in sports management, business, or a related field.
  • Understanding of diversity and inclusion principles in sport.
