The Role

As the Nursery Deputy Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day management of our nursery, ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for children aged 2-5.

Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you will lead the team, oversee learning activities, and ensure compliance with Ofsted and childcare regulations. Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), you will promote best practices in safeguarding and child protection.

Additionally, you will:

- Maintain the key worker system, ensuring families have a named point of contact
- Keep children's progress files up to date
- Contribute to EHCP and Surrey Support Plan documents
- Foster learning through play, ensuring activities align with the EYFS curriculum
- Work in partnership with families, health professionals, and external agencies
- Support and supervise staff, students, and volunteers
- Assist in risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulations


Please note, due to our open and collaborative working environment and the nature of our work with children and adults with disabilities, all our office-based roles can experience periods of elevated noise levels and some elements of disruption.

About You

To be considered as a Nursery Deputy Manager, you will need:

- At least two years’ experience in a managerial role within a nursery or early years setting
- Experience working with children with additional needs and disabilities
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted standards and EYFS framework
- A good level of IT literacy
- The ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
- A current Paediatric First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake training
- A NNEB, NVQ Level 3 in Early Years and Education, or a related qualification

Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams would be beneficial to your application. Knowledge of EHCNA application processes would also be advantageous but is not essential.

Please note, all staff are required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
