ABOUT THE ROLETennis Wales is the Governing Body of tennis in Wales. Our vision is tennis opened up across Wales with a mission to transform Welsh communities through tennis. We launched our strategy from 2020 – 2024, and in collaboration with the LTA, Sport Wales, and our sponsors and partners have extended our work further until 2026.
Tennis Wales is looking to recruit a dynamic, passionate and representative from South Wales (who must be a member of a registered place to play within the region) to join the Tennis Wales Board as a Director. Ideally the applicant would have professional qualifications or experience in: Human Resources, Employment Law or the Welsh Language, though applications are welcome from professionals with qualifications or experience in other areas that would benefit the Board. As well as being a Director of Tennis Wales Ltd, the applicant will also liaise with or can opt to join the South Wales Tennis Committee, with a focus on delivering our strategy.
This is a non-salaried position. Travel and other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed for attendance at official meetings and events on behalf of Tennis Wales. The Tennis Wales Board meets five times a year across Wales. The term of office is for three years initially (following formal election at the next South Wales Annual Open Meeting in November) with a maximum of two, three-year terms.
MAIN PURPOSEThe successful applicant will take an active role in the policymaking & strategic development for Tennis Wales at Board level, taking an impartial view and providing oversight and challenge. They will provide specialist advice & support using their professional skills to benefit the organisation. Playing an active role on the Board, they will work with other Board members and the CEO to manage Tennis Wales with excellence and deliver our strategy.
As a member of the Tennis Wales Board, they will adopt our organisational values: Fair Play, Embrace Wales, Progress Together and Grow through tennis, whilst liaising with the South Wales Committee, the Tennis Wales team and community to ensure our vision for tennis opened up across Wales.
