SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Museum Development Coordinator (Delivering Change and ESSM) works closely with museum participants on the Delivering Change programme, supporting the Programme Manager to develop and deliver the Activist and Leadership Programmes. Delivering Change is a programme led by MGS and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, is a collective effort between Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) and partnering museums, galleries, and community groups to restructure as organisations based on anti-oppressive principles.

This post also supports delivery of MGS’s actions from the recommendations of the Empire, Slavery and Scotland’s Museums (ESSM) Steering Group. There were specific actions for MGS in the recommendations, and this post will support the Senior Museum Development Manager to deliver on these. The Delivering Change programme is one of the ways MGS are meeting various actions from these recommendations.

The Museum Development Coordinator works alongside members of the MGS Museum Development Team, supporting them to develop how they help museums to engage with anti-oppression, inclusion and participation, with the aim of embedding this into MGS’s core approach.

The Museum Development Coordinator has an understanding of the Delivering Change programme, ESSM and anti-oppression in the Scottish museums sector. They have experience of building effective relationships and networks and supporting museums to embed anti-oppressive practice. An effective communicator who conveys energy and enthusiasm about their work, they bring a collaborative approach and the ability to inspire and support others to make connections and enable action.

As this post joins in the last few months of Delivering Change programme delivery, we are asking applicants to demonstrate understanding and experience of this programme specifically. Experience could come from involvement in any of the programme strands, as a participant or delivery partner.
