Play Studio Montessori Nurseries, part of Templesprings Childcare Services Ltd, is seeking an experienced, passionate, and driven Montessori Teacher to join our leadership team.

This is a senior position within the nursery, ideal for a professional who is committed to delivering exceptional early years education, leading best practice, and inspiring both children and colleagues.

The Role
As a Montessori Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching and care to children aged 3 months to 5 years, ensuring each child is supported to reach their full potential.

You will lead the implementation of the Montessori curriculum alongside the EYFS, creating a carefully prepared environment that promotes independence, curiosity, and holistic development. You will also contribute to the leadership and smooth day-to-day running of the nursery, including deputising when required.


Key Responsibilities

Montessori Curriculum Delivery

  • Deliver an authentic Montessori curriculum alongside the EYFS framework. 
  •  Prepare and maintain a beautiful, organised and stimulating Montessori environment. 
  •  Present Montessori materials using correct Montessori methodology. 
  • Observe each child's interests, developmental stage, and readiness to introduce lessons and plan meaningful learning experiences.
  • Foster children's independence, concentration, confidence, and respect through Montessori principles, including grace and courtesy.
  •  Model calm, respectful and purposeful behaviour. 
  •  Ensure children have uninterrupted work cycles wherever possible. 
  •  Support children's development in: 
    •  Practical Life 
    •  Sensorial 
    •  Language 
    •  Mathematics 
    •  Cultural Studies 
  •  Maintain Montessori materials to a high standard, ensuring they are complete, attractive and available. 
  •  Support children’s academic, emotional, and physical development

Leadership & Practice

  •  Maintain Montessori materials to a high standard, ensuring they are complete, attractive and available. 
  • Lead high-quality Montessori practice across the nursery
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Support Room Leaders and management. 
  • Share Montessori knowledge and best practice. 
  • Mentor Early Years Practitioners where appropriate.


Safeguarding and Welfare

  •  Safeguard all children in accordance with nursery policies. 
  •  Report concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. 
  •  Maintain confidentiality and follow safer working practice guidance. 
  •  Promote children's emotional wellbeing. 
  •  Ensure children are supervised at all times. 
  •  Maintain accurate accident and incident records. 
  •  Follow all health, safety, and regulatory requirements

Partnerships & Communication

  • Build warm and professional relationships with parents.
  • Communicate children’s progress through reports, meetings, and daily interactions
  • Encourage parents to continue Montessori principles at home. 
  • Respond professionally to parent enquiries.

Professional Responsibilities

  •  Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training, and development.
  • Maintain accurate records, including learning journeys and progress tracking.
  • Stay up to date with current early years research, policy, and best practice.
  • Participate in supervision and annual appraisals. 
  • Reflect on practice and continually seek improvement.


Person Specification

Essential
  • Montessori Diploma (AMI, AMS, MCI or MACTE recognised qualification) 
  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above) 
  • Sound knowledge of EYFS
  • 5 years or more experience working with children aged 0–5 years
  • Proven ability to lead practice and support a team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate 
  • Safeguarding Level 2 
  • Fluent spoken and written English 

Desirable
  • Montessori Level 4 or International Diploma 
  • SENCO Training 
  • Food Hygiene Certificate 
  • Experience of achieving strong Ofsted outcomes
  • Experience working with SEND and diverse communities
