Role Overview
Play Studio Montessori Nurseries is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Montessori Assistant to support the daily running of the nursery environment. The role involves working closely with qualified Montessori practitioners to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning experience for children in line with Montessori principles.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about early years education and child development, and who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare and Learning Support
- Support children in their daily activities, encouraging independence, concentration, and respectful behaviour
- Assist in preparing and maintaining a Montessori learning environment that is calm, organised, and child-led
- Observe children and share relevant observations with the Montessori team
- Help guide children during practical life, sensorial, language, and creative activities
Care, Health, and Safety
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding of all children at all times
- Assist with personal care routines including toileting, handwashing, and mealtimes
- Follow nursery policies and procedures relating to health, safety, and safeguarding
- Support supervision of children during indoor and outdoor play
Teamwork and Professional Conduct
- Work effectively as part of the nursery team under the guidance of senior staff
- Communicate positively with colleagues and, where appropriate, parents or carers
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Maintain confidentiality and act professionally at all times
Person Specification
Essential
- A genuine interest in working with young children
- A caring, patient, and dependable approach
- Willingness to learn about the Montessori philosophy and practices
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience working with children in an early years setting
- Montessori training or willingness to undertake Montessori or early years training
- Relevant early years qualification or working towards one
