The Role
As a Mechanical Estimator/Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in our growth. You’ll be responsible for producing accurate, competitive estimates and building lasting relationships with clients. Typical projects range between £10k – £500k.

This is a client-facing role where you’ll combine technical knowledge with commercial awareness to deliver the best solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing accurate estimates for HVAC and mechanical projects.
  • Conducting site surveys & reviewing technical information.
  • Producing clear and timely quotations for clients.
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Building strong client relationships and supporting key accounts.
  • Analyse tender documents to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with industry regulations, company standards, and ISO accreditations (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns including labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor elements.
  • Manage the tender process, from initial enquiry through to submission and post-tender clarifications.
  • Support the bid/no-bid decision process by providing commercial insight.
  • Be proficient in usage of our CAFM & CRM system, tracking enquiries, building tenders and creating the quotes within.
  • Work with the procurement team to develop competitive supply chain partnerships.
  • Attend client meetings, presentations, and negotiation sessions, representing the company professionally.
  • Provide regular pipeline and forecasting reports to management.
  • Support the handover of secured projects to the delivery team, ensuring all estimate details are fully communicated.
  • Collaborate with the delivery teams to provide buildability and cost advice at early project stages.
  • Stay up to date with market trends, pricing, and new technologies (e.g. renewable energy systems, heat pumps, sustainable HVAC solutions).
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating systems, templates, and processes.

About You
We’re looking for someone who is technically skilled, commercially aware, and client-focused.

Essential:
  • 5+ years’ experience in the building services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, chillers & ancillaries.
  • NVQ Level 2 or above in a relevant HVAC qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence + clear DBS.
  • Confident using estimating software & Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamworking skills.
  • The belief in conducting business where people and places matter, embracing sustainability whilst balancing profit and purpose in order to leave the world a better place through our actions.

Desirable:
  • 3+ years’ estimating experience.
  • Formal qualification in Building Services Engineering.
  • Knowledge of gas, heating, ventilation, DX systems, and heat pumps.
  • Familiarity with CRM/CAFM systems.
  • Basic electrical knowledge
