One of the largest Colleges within the University of Oxford, St Catherine’s is seeking to appoint a Library Assistant. Due to replacement of roof structures within the Library, 10% of the library collection has been relocated to a temporary library space in college. The main Library (Wolfson Library) which includes the college archives is scheduled to reopen at the end of the calendar year.
The Library Assistant will support day-to-day operations to ensure the temporary space effectively meets user needs. Additionally, they will assist with the planning and preparation for the main library’s upcoming reopening.
The successful candidate will be flexible, positive and enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills. Experience of working in a busy Library environment is desirable, as well as a commitment to meeting the diverse academic needs of our student community.
Tasks include: Opening, closing and invigilating the Library, providing desk cover, issuing, returning and renewing books, resolving readers’ queries, assisting in developing and maintaining OLIS for the Library, analysing book usage records and processing new acquisitions.
The post comprises 35 hours per week, and the salary is within the range £26,093 - £27,319 per annum.
