Kitchen Assistant (Maternity Cover) – Farms for City Children

Location - Iddesleigh, Devon

Salary - £22,223 per annum (pro rata for part time)

Contract - Full time (35 hours per week Monday-Friday), Fixed Term (Some evenings. No weekends) - Part time may be considered

Farms for City Children offers children and young people a week in the heart of the British countryside staying on one of our farms. Visiting children are immersed in the natural world of food, farming, and countryside life where they participate in the seasonal tasks of the day: sowing, growing and harvesting in our kitchen gardens, caring for livestock and looking after the land, and a variety of tasks designed to build greater connection with the natural world like beekeeping, biodiversity walks, and birdwatching.

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team on our Devon farm working in a busy kitchen.

 

The Kitchen Assistant supports the efficient running of a busy kitchen; we provide 3 nutritious meals each day to a large residential accommodation for groups of up to 39 children and their accompanying adults. You will work as part of the team to ensure the needs of resident groups are met and that the highest standards of nutrition, food quality, food hygiene and health and safety are maintained. We pride ourselves on being able to cater for a full range of dietary needs and cultural differences.

You will have regular and direct contact with our visiting children and adults, welcoming them upon arrival and maintaining a warm and friendly relationship throughout their stay.
