About the job
We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated Information Governance Officer to join our team and support the organisation and sector partners in understanding and meeting their legal obligations under the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, and the Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011.
This role is central to ensuring that our data access and sharing practices are robust, transparent, and compliant. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to promote a culture of good information governance across the sector.
About you
You’ll ideally have a background in an information governance or data protection role with an understanding of this specialism in the Scottish public sector and academia. You’ll be an excellent communicator, adept at bringing your subject matter expertise to life and helping others understand the complexities of the applicable legislation and frameworks. You’ll be highly organised and comfortable to manage competing priorities across our broad range of internal projects.

At RDS we offer a Four Day (32 hours) week for our full-time colleagues, with hybrid working on offer from day one. You can choose to work flexibly from home or use one of our office desks in the Edinburgh Futures Institute. The whole RDS team meets one day per month in-person in Edinburgh or at an off-site away day in the Central Belt. Individual teams organise their own in-person days to collaborate, develop and socialise together.
We offer up to 30 days’ annual leave (including public holidays) and have no set closure days. We have a generous pension and enhanced pay for parental/adoption leave.
