We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Product & Technical (Fire Systems) to take ownership of our Fire Systems Approval Schemes, ensuring they remain technically robust, relevant and fully compliant with UKAS accreditation requirements.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with fire systems expertise who wants to make a wider impact across the industry. You'll combine technical leadership with business development, industry engagement, auditor development and scheme governance, acting as a visible ambassador for NSI across the UK.

The Opportunity
Reporting into the Technical team, you'll be responsible for the ongoing management, development and governance of NSI's Fire Systems certification schemes, while helping to grow our presence and influence within the fire sector.

You will:
  • Lead the technical management and continuous improvement of NSI Fire Systems schemes
  • Ensure schemes remain aligned with industry standards, legislation, certification requirements and UKAS expectations
  • Provide authoritative technical guidance to auditors, approved companies and stakeholders
  • Support auditor competence through training, calibration and audit delivery
  • Develop and deliver business development initiatives that support sustainable growth
  • Represent NSI at exhibitions, conferences, committees, industry forums and speaking engagements
  • Work closely with Marketing and Sales to increase awareness of NSI's services and value proposition
  • Provide deputy cover for Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) schemes when required
  • Complete and maintain authorisation as an NSI auditor, delivering a minimum of 20 audit days annually

About You
We're looking for a credible technical professional who can confidently engage with customers, industry leaders and key stakeholders while ensuring the highest standards of technical governance.

Essential Experience & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of the UK fire systems industry, standards, legislation and third-party certification
  • Experience working with, or strong understanding of, BAFE schemes and certification requirements
  • Proven ability to build relationships and create commercial opportunities through networking and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, projects and controlled documentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement and high levels of integrity
  • Commitment to developing and maintaining auditor competence

Desirable
  • Experience with Fire Risk Assessment certification schemes, including BAFE SP205
  • Previous certification, inspection or management systems auditing experience
  • Experience within UKAS-accredited certification or compliance environments
  • Involvement in industry committees, working groups or professional bodies
  • Experience delivering technical training, webinars or conference presentations
  • Relevant fire, engineering, auditing or professional qualifications
