Who we are:
The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises (RAFCTE) runs the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford annually.  This 3-day public event attracts up to 200,000 visitors annually, who come to see the amazing air display alongside inspiring and unique aircraft and technologies on the ground.   
 
Our profits are gifted to our parent charity the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.  The Trust provides grants that deliver innovative STEM and aviation opportunities to young people to fulfil their potential in air, space and technology as well as promoting the RAF.   

What Are We Looking For?
As department Head and member of the senior management team, assist the Executive Board in the leadership of the RAFCTE team and implementation of company policies and strategies, reporting to the Finance Director who sits on both the RAFCTE Board and the RAFCT Board. The role is accountable for the delivery of the required outputs as set out below:
You will lead and direct the Marketing Activities and Customer Experience Team that:
  • Is accountable and responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of marketing Strategies, tactical plans, and measurement processes to maximise all the Company’s income generating events, product streams, projects and new initiatives.  
  • Contributes to the pursuit, development, implementation and delivery of initiatives and partnerships that will contribute to achieving the RIAT32 vision on sustainable event delivery and showground content. 
  • Oversees the organisations’ brands by excelling as the Brand Ambassador ensuring a coherent approach across all mediums of media, Website, Socials, Emails, Print, artwork etc.
  • Is accountable for effective delivery of customer experience including the management of 125 Volunteer crew members on hand to offer a world class customer experience. 

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • The pursuit, development, implementation and delivery of initiatives and partnerships that will contribute to achieving the RIAT32 vision on sustainable event delivery and showground content.
  • Establishing a close working relationship with the Head of Business Development and Corporate Relations, to support the acquisition of corporate clients related to the delivery of the hospitality chalet operation.
  • Accountability for ticket sales forecast and marketing activity to deliver budgeted sales. 
  • Developing a strong relationship with the commercial department to cross pollinate ideas on enhancing the enclosure experience.
  • Responsibility for managing the third-party media agency including the ROI on out of home advertising, scrutiny of social analytical data and the identification of trends that RAFCTE should maximise.
  • Working with the Operations team to oversee the site build and dismantle phases of the relevant construction sites while ensuring all team members including volunteers comply with CDM, H&S and Environmental Regulations, and ensure their appropriate welfare needs are addressed.
  • Ensure effective communication between RAFCTE and the RAF media team over the show through co-location and ‘coordinated press releases.
Financial
  • Responsible for the Marketing department revenue generation and expenditure in accordance with the Company’s procurement, sales policies and approval limits, including the preparation of budgets and targets and the provision of accurate forecasting.
People Management
  • Ensuring that the Marketing and Customer Experience department is adequately resourced in both permanent and temporary personnel to successfully deliver its outputs. Participate in the recruitment and selection of employees, approve job profiles, approve appointments.
  • Ensuring that performance management, training and personal development needs are met for all department employees.
  • Line management of four permanent team members and department responsibility for temporary fixed term staff and approximately 150 volunteers. 

Type of Contract/Working Hours
Full-time (36.25 hours per week) Monday to Friday, part-time or job share would be considered.  
 
The successful applicant will be required to work part of approximately 4 weekends per year.  Applicants must be able to commit to working the weekend of the Royal International Air Tattoo.

What We Will Offer:
A salary from £55,000-£60,000 is accompanied by pension, private healthcare and 4x life assurance, we also hold staff wellbeing and social events throughout the year. 
 
20 days annual leave (rising to 25) plus Bank Holidays

About You:
If you have a proven track record in a senior marketing position, with experience in digital marketing and social media, we strongly advise that you apply.
 
Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks is essential, and ideally a marketing qualification such as CIM Fellowship.
