The GCVS Chair is appointed for a term of up to three years.
The Chair is a member of the Board and has a specific role to:
- Work with the CEO to plan the annual cycle of Board meetings and to develop and plan Board agendas.
- To chair and facilitate meetings of the GCVS Board
- To attend and Chair the AGM and other special meetings
- To act as a spokesperson for GCVS
- To see that the Board functions effectively, and fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the governance of GCVS
- To liaise with the Chief Executive to keep an overview of the organisation’s affairs and to provide support as appropriate
- To lead the process of appraising the performance of the CEO
- To optimise the relationship between the Board and management
- To consult with Board members on their roles, and review annually the individual and collective performance of Board members
