Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit a Finance Officer on a permanent basis to join their busy organisation. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role will be responsible for a number of processes including Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Account reconciliations and payroll as well as supporting the Finance Manager to ensure the financial health of the organisation and appropriate timely reporting to Senior Management and Trustees.

Essential Criteria 
  • The ability to commit to and work within the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service and the vision of Citizens Advice Cornwall
  • Recent and ongoing experience of financial administration in a Charity or similar organisation, with experience of meeting deadlines and setting priorities.
  • Experience of using QuickBooks or similar accounting package and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use IT packages including Microsoft Excel and Word or similar and the ability to use email and maintain an electronic diary.  
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles
  • Proven ability to prioritise effectively, to multi-task and cope well under pressure.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and use IT systems for the provision of advice services.
  • Self-reliant and able to problem solve independently.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively and a willingness to challenge constructively
  • Commitment to reflective performance and continuing professional development.

Desirable Criteria
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong Analytical skills and an ability to input and interpret complex data using IT systems.
  • Partly or fully completed Accountancy qualification such as AAT.
  • An ability to help build a collaborative ‘one-team’ culture whereby staff and volunteers, as far as possible, contribute their skills, experience and time flexibly across our service to meet the needs of our clients and colleagues. Therefore, a flexible approach to working and planning would be desirable.
 
In accordance with our local policy the successful candidate will be screened by the DBS. However, a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to your being able to take up the job.

- Salary: FTE £24,000 - £26,500 (Band C) per annum, pro rata for part-time work
