Whom are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Field Application Engineer to play a crucial role in helping customers, partners, and sales teams understand the technical advantages and integration capabilities of our BESS solutions. This role ensures that customers select the right system configuration that aligns with their energy storage needs, grid requirements, and operational goals.
To be successful in this role, you are expected to:
- Collaborate with the sales team to assess customer requirements and recommend the optimal BESS configurations based on power demand, grid constraints, and application needs.
- Provide technical presentations, demonstrations, and consultations to help customers understand how our BESS integrates with EMS, grid infrastructure, and PCS
- Support RFPs, RFQs, and technical documentation to ensure our solutions meet customer specifications.
- Design and conduct customer and partner training sessions on BESS selection, configuration, operation, and software usage.
- Develop technical guides, training materials, and best-practice documentation to support customers in effectively managing their energy storage systems.
- Train customers/partners on remote monitoring, performance optimization, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Stay updated on EU/UK grid regulations, market incentives, and evolving energy storage policies to ensure our products remain compliant and competitive.
- Analyze competitor BESS offerings, industry trends, and emerging battery technologies to provide insights that guide our product strategy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical role related to BESS, energy storage, power electronics, EMS integration, or grid-connected systems.
- Proven experience in technical pre-sales, system integration, or field applications engineering within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of BESS technology, energy management systems (EMS), and grid integration.
- Experience with power conversion systems (PCS), inverters, and energy storage controls.
- Knowledge of grid compliance standards, interconnection requirements, and EU energy regulations.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, IEC 61850, SCADA, and CAN for system integration.
- Hands-on experience in configuring EMS, tuning system controls, and troubleshooting software/hardware integration issues.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and system layouts.
- Proficiency in technical documentation, report writing, and customer training materials.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues with little supervision.
- Strong communication skills – comfortable to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
