Overall Purpose: To carry out a fee earning role within the Family Law Department and provide a profitable contribution to the Firm. To undertake new work to enable other fee earners to attend to their increasing caseloads. To proactively support the Family Department and provide cover for holidays. To be a professional and responsible representative of the Firm at all times.

Location: Leicester and Market Harborough, as required
Main Duties to Include:
1. Responsible for providing high quality, timely, professional advice and representation for family clients.
2. Responsible for ensuring that all client work is dealt with efficiently and that the client is kept regularly informed about progress and costs whilst maintaining the confidentiality of all the Firm’s and clients documents and information at all times.
3. Responsible for drafting documents such as divorce petitions, applications to Court, financial statements and narrative statements, court orders, brief to counsel.
4. Responsible for attending clients, taking instructions and advising.
5. Attending Court where necessary.
6. Responsible for assisting other family fee earners on their files where required.
7. Responsible for actively proposing and participating in agreed marketing initiatives including drafting of articles and attending networking events.
8. Effectively manage the financial aspects of all clients’ files for which the fee earner is responsible and effectively managing files in general.
9. Assisting Junior members of the team and their development, as required

Externally – to ensure the highest level of client care, consistent with the Client Charter of the Firm.
Problem solving – to participate in, and encourage staff to participate in, the development of improved operating practices within the department consistent with the Firm’s practice of continuous improvement.
Financial management – to achieve agreed operating targets for fee earning.
Marketing - Responsible for actively proposing and participating in agreed marketing initiatives, to include the writing of articles for the website, giving presentations at seminars, participating in video content and podcasts where necessary.
Safeguarding – Identifying and protecting vulnerable clients.
Compliance – To report to the Head of Department, in a timely manner, any issues that may arise with any client or matter, that may be a reportable issue with regards to the Firm’s insurers. To pass any complaints to the relevant Director as soon as a complaint is made. To keep the SRA updated as and when necessary and to complete CPD requirements.
