THE ORGANISATION

Founded in 2004, the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) is one of the UK’s most influential think tanks. We’re here to challenge conventional thinking and put social justice at the heart of politics. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty by tackling its root causes, not just managing the symptoms.

Our work has helped shape some of the most significant welfare and justice reforms in a generation. We focus on five interconnected pathways to poverty:

  • Educational failure
  • Family breakdown
  • Economic dependency and worklessness
  • Addiction
  • Serious personal debt

We don’t do this from behind desks. We’re powered by the lived experience and insights of frontline charities - especially through the CSJ Foundation and our national Alliance of poverty-fighting organisations. These grassroots groups are the unsung heroes tackling Britain’s toughest social issues, and we want to amplify their voice in politics, media, and philanthropy.

This is a critical moment for the CSJ. We’re scaling up our research, events, digital platforms, philanthropy and external engagement - and this role is central to that growth.

THE ROLE

The Centre for Social Justice is looking for an outstanding Events Manager to take full ownership of our events delivery and help power our engagement with policymakers, our alliance charities, partners, donors, and the wider public.

This is a hands-on, high-trust role at the heart of a fast-moving organisation. You will be responsible for turning ideas into well-run, high-impact events that advance our policy work and strengthen our influence. From policy panels and private roundtables to party conferences, awards and flagship Foundation activity, you will make things happen and make them run smoothly. We are looking for someone organised, proactive, and energised who can be relied on and execute to a high standard.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Events delivery and operations

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of the CSJ’s events programme, including panels, launches, roundtables, conferences, awards, caucus dinners, and internal events
  • Lead all day-of delivery, including run-sheets, speaker liaison, registration, AV checks, and on-the-spot problem solving
  • Manage logistics across venues, contractors, catering, travel, and accommodation
  • Track and reconcile event budgets and invoices with accurate records

Stakeholders, content creation, and amplification

  • Act as the day-to-day contact for speakers, sponsors, and partners, including preparing briefs and coordinating rehearsals where needed
  • Work with the Communications team to support event outputs such as filmed content, podcast clips, post-event summaries, and press packs
  • Maintain CRM and event systems, including Salesforce and Excel, and steward our MP and partner databases

Planning, reporting, and coordination

  • Keep the Master Calendar up to date and help coordinate activity across teams
  • Produce clear post-event reporting, including attendance, sponsor delivery, media coverage and follow-up actions
  • Undertake occasional UK travel and out-of-hours work as required for events

THE PERSON

We are looking for a calm, capable operator who enjoys responsibility and gets satisfaction from delivering things properly. You are comfortable working at pace, juggling multiple priorities, and spotting problems before they land.

  • Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail and reliable follow-through
  • Proven experience delivering events of varying sizes in a professional setting. Political or policy experience is welcome but not essential
  • Confidence building trusted relationships with senior internal colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience using CRM systems and managing contact data
  • A genuine interest in politics, social justice, and a commitment to the CSJ’s mission, values, and way of working
  • A proactive mindset that looks ahead, scopes projects early, and brings solutions rather than just problems
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to new information, and re-prioritise when needed
  • A collaborative, positive attitude and a strong sense of personal integrity

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

The next stage of the process will be a task-based assessment, which must be submitted within one week of receipt. Invitations to complete the task will be sent as applications are reviewed.

Successful candidates will then be invited to an in-person interview with our team, followed by a final meeting with our CEO.
