This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and progressive Employment Team with a keen focus on Employee (Claimant) clients and also a number Employer (Respondent) clients. The Team is embedded within a 2025 and 2026 Legal 500 Leading Firm, and a Legal Top Tier Firm specifically for Employment experience. Vaishali Thakerar, the Director Responsible for the Employment Team is also recognised as a Leading Partner within the Legal 500.
With a variety of colleagues in the team to provide both support and assistance, along with significantly experienced colleagues to provide, training, mentoring and guidance, the role gives the successful candidate an opportunity to work alongside a variety of colleagues with considerable experience in pre and post-employment matters, ranging from negotiations and mediation through to employment litigation at all levels. From unfair dismissal through to complex discrimination and Employment Appeal Tribunal claims, the role gives the successful candidate the opportunity to build on their Employment Law experience in a significant variety of Employment disputes.
Training, support and the sharing of experiences are a key focus for the Employment Team and this is an opportunity to build and develop the successful candidates knowledge, experience, understanding and recognition within the Employment tribunal arena. Overall Purpose:
To undertake work in the Employment Department to provide quality advice to clients and enable other fee earners to attend to their increasing caseloads. To proactively support the Employment Department and provide cover for holidays (in particular in the absence of the Department Head)
Reporting to: Head of Department
Location: Leicestershire with Flexible and Hybrid Working
Main Duties to Include:
1. Responsible for providing high quality, timely, professional advice and representation for claimant and respondent clients
2. Responsible for preparing and drafting documents such as Form ET1 and ET3, witness statements and schedules of loss
3. Responsible for attending clients, taking instructions and advising. Generally conducting files efficiently whilst maintaining the confidentiality of all the Firm’s and client’s documents and information at all times
4. Attending Tribunal when necessary, including Case Management Discussions and Pre-Hearing Reviews
5. Responsible for assisting other employment fee earners on their files where required
6. Responsible for actively proposing and participating in agreed marketing initiatives

Planning and organising your own day to day time management / activities
Decision making – to conduct the day to day activities consistent with the aims agreed with the Head of Department.
Internal/External relationships - To actively promote the business in external networking events and nurturing business relationships with external contacts.
Internally to help maintain sound business relationships with all colleagues and promote business growth through maximising internal referrals, networking and events
Externally – to ensure the highest level of client care, consistent with the Client Charter of the firm.
Problem solving – to participate in, and encourage staff to participate in, the development of improved operating practices within the department consistent with the Firm’s practice of continuous improvement.
Financial management – to achieve agreed operating targets for fee earning as agreed with the Department Head.
Marketing - Responsible for actively proposing and participating in agreed marketing initiatives, to include the writing of articles for the website, giving presentations at seminars, participating in video content and podcasts where necessary.
Safeguarding – Identifying and protecting vulnerable clients.
Compliance – To report to the Head of Department, in a timely manner, any issues that may arise with any client or matter, that may be a reportable issue with regards to the Firm’s insurers. To pass any complaints to the relevant Director as soon as a complaint is made. To keep the SRA updated as and when necessary and to complete CPD requirements.
