Overall Job Purpose
As Scottish Refugee Councils Employability Development Officer, you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders to improve the access to employment, education and training for refugees in Scotland. You will be supporting the delivery of Scottish Refugee Councils, strategic, operational aims and objectives around Employability.
You will be working with a wide range of stakeholders, to ensure refugees have the best possible access to the UK job market. Focusing on improving understanding for employers and refugees. Supporting Employers to work with refugees, understanding rights and entitlements, barriers to employment and ways to boost their workforce. Working with refugees directly, you will deliver activity to ensure to improve refugee's chances of accessing employment, education and training.
Advocating for the rights of refugees to have an equitable process to access education, training and employment you will represent the voices of refugees across a wide range of stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on right to work, refugee integration related legislation, employment and education policy changes and practice and its impact on refugees’ integration in Scotland.
- Support the delivery of our strategic objectives on employment, training and education.
- Deliver on our operational funding targets
- Developing partnerships across employers, training providers and sector networks to improve employment outcomes of refugees
- Develop and/or deliver a programs of training for refugees to prepare for employment with partners (third sector, private and public organisations).
- Produce resources for practitioners supporting refugees and refugees themselves to access employment and education.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of all employability activities
- Produce reports as required by funders
Other Duties
- Contribute to the development of Scottish Refugee Council as a learning organisation
- Participate in and contribute to organisational/team meetings as required
- Attend relevant internal and external meetings for marketing and networking purposes
- Contribute to training and induction for other members of staff and volunteers, as required
- Undertake any other duties relevant to the post and the demands of the organisation
- Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with Scottish Refugee Council’s values, equality aims, policies and procedures
