Our site in Bedford is centred around our impressive transonic wind tunnel – the equipment which drives it – whilst the research performed is often unique to ARA and involves many bespoke processes.

We are looking to recruit a EDM Operative to work as part of an integrated D&M team responsible for programming, setting and operating EDM machines (wire and sinker) to produce wind tunnel model components to quality, time and budget in accordance with project manufacturing tolerances and schedules.

ARA’s intention is to develop a multi-skilled workforce, therefore you are likely to be asked to carry out other duties and/or responsibilities in addition to the duties directly relating to EDM machining. You will be given full training for such duties and we will not ask you to carry out such other duties for which you are not skilled or able.

It will be extremely desirable if you are competent in other disciplines to provide assistance within other areas of the MMC, particularly part hand working and assembly, but also turning, milling/jig bore and grinding, during periods of high demand to meet project schedules.

The ideal applicant will be a time served and/or a fully skilled engineer with demonstrable experience of EDM (wire and plunge).

Salary: up to £40,000 per annum.

Typical Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday – 7am to 3pm
