Overall Purpose: To carryout a fee earning role within the Lawson-West Commercial and Business Law department and provide a profitable contribution to the department and Company. At all times to act and conduct yourself in accordance with the Company’s Vision and Mission Statements and Core Values To proactively support the Commercial Law Department and contribute wherever possible to the success of the Company through fee earning, marketing and training activities.

Location: Meridian Business Park, Leicester with option for Hybrid Working and occasional travel to Market Harborough
Main Duties to Include:
1. To be responsible for providing high quality, timely, professional fee earning in relation to company law, corporate transactions and related work. This will include all types of corporate governance and partnership advice, business acquisitions and disposals (whether by shares or assets) and commercial contracts of all types whether for clients providing services or products and whether to other businesses and/or consumers.
2. To be responsible for ensuring that all client work is dealt with efficiently and that the client is kept regularly informed about progress and costs whilst maintaining the confidentiality of all the Company’s and client’s documents and information at all times.
3. To be responsible for working effectively with own initiative to act in the best interests of clients, maximising profitability and working within a team environment.
4. Effectively managing the financial aspects of all client’s files for which the fee earner is responsible and to comply at all time with Company procedures
5. To be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of company law matters and case law, legislation and trends and advice to fellow fee earners.
6. To be responsible for actively proposing, contributing to and participating in agreed marketing initiatives and for contributing to marketing initiatives.
7. To ensure confidentiality and the security of all client details, files and correspondence. To be responsible for ensuring that all AML Checks and processes have been followed and, where appropriate, followed up, on all own files, including the completion of audits. To also ensure all client data is updated on DPS.
8. To assist with the occasional training of more junior fee earners from time-to-time as requested by your Head of Department.
9. To undertake other duties which may from time-to-time by allocated by your Head of Department.

Financial Management…to achieve or exceed agreed operating fee earner targets.
Marketing…to be an active member of the team and encourage others to be active in helping to generate and promote marketing initiatives to promote the services of the Company, in co-operation with the Director Responsible and the Marketing Department. To include the writing of articles for the website, giving presentations at seminars, participating in video content and podcasts where necessary.
Safeguarding – Identifying and protecting vulnerable clients.
Compliance – To report to the Head of Department, in a timely manner, any issues that may arise with any client or matter, that may be a reportable issue with regards to the Firm’s insurers. To pass any complaints to the relevant Director as soon as a complaint is made. To keep the SRA updated as and when necessary and to complete CPD requirements.
