Role Purpose
 
The Devon Cricket Foundation in partnership with The Lords Taverners seek to appoint a Community Manager who will broaden the offer of cricket to new and diverse audiences, using the power of cricket to promote social inclusion, improve mental wellbeing, and build stronger communities.  They will lead the delivery and development of the Lord’s Taverners Wicketz programme across Devon as well as developing new initiatives that will engage people of all ages from all backgrounds. The postholder will be responsible for line managing a team of four Community Coaches.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Programme Management – Wicketz & MCC Foundation Hubs
 
·       Lead the delivery of the Lord’s Taverners Wicketz programme across multiple community hubs in Devon.
·       Manage all planning, coordination, and reporting of Wicketz activities.
·       Monitor delivery quality, participant engagement, and long-term impact.
·       Manage the delivery of the MCCF Hubs across Devon. 
 
Line Mangement
 
  • Line manage four Community Coaches, providing supervision, development support, and quality assurance.
 
Community Engagement & Inclusion
 
·       Broaden the reach of cricket to new and diverse communities.
·       Build relationships with local stakeholders.
·       Design and implement creative outreach strategies that engage individuals who are traditionally underrepresented in cricket.
·       Develop new initiatives and programmes to engage individuals and communities. 
·       Identify and support local ambassadors and peer leaders within communities.
 
Wellbeing & Alternative Cricket Formats
 
·       Use cricket as a tool to promote social cohesion, improve mental health, and develop life skills among participants.
·       Establish and expand walking cricket opportunities across club and community settings.
·       Embed mental health awareness and wellbeing practices within all programme delivery.
·       Develop and implement a wellbeing champion network across local cricket clubs to provide ongoing peer support.
 
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
 
·       Maintain accurate data and reporting in line with Lord’s Taverners, MCC Foundation and Devon Cricket Foundation requirements.
·       Track participant outcomes and stories of change.
·       Provide regular reports and case studies for funders, stakeholders, and strategic partners.
 
Marketing & Communications
 
·       Promote the programme through social media, case studies, and local press.
·       Maintain community cricket hub pages on the Devon Cricket website.
·       Support the production of promotional materials, newsletters, and impact reports.
 
Other Duties
 
·       Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Operations Executive.
 
Person Specification
 
Essential
 
·       Experience of community sport delivery or youth work in diverse or disadvantaged communities.
·       Strong leadership and line management skills.
·       Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
·       Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
·       Strong administrative skills and experience of monitoring and evaluation.
·       Flexible working attitude – including evenings and weekends.
·       Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
 
Desirable
 
  • Coaching qualification (e.g., ECB Core Coach or equivalent).
·       Knowledge of cricket development and inclusive formats (e.g. walking cricket)
  • Understanding of the social and mental health benefits of sport.
  • Experience developing inclusive initiatives for underrepresented groups.
·       Experience of working with or managing volunteers.
·       Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
·       Experience in partnership-building across education, health, and community sectors.
·       IT literate with confidence in using databases, websites, and marketing tools.
