Role Summary
Our School Sport programme uses the power of sport to inspire pupils in our local Primary Schools, encouraging them to be active and lead healthy lifestyles.
We are seeking a personable, motivated and passionate individual to join our team. Working predominantly on our School Sport programme, the post holder will be responsible for delivering outstanding PE and PLPS sessions in our school community, joining a well established team. They will forge positive and effective relationships with participants and members of school staff, ensuring that participants receive the highest quality of provision.
Key responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Delivery of Cambridge United Foundation’s School Sport and PLPS Sessions, according to an agreed schedule.
- Forming positive relationships with all participants, fostering a welcoming and inclusive ethos across CUF’s School Sport programme.
- Tailoring creative sessions to the requirements of participants and schools, based on an understanding of the PE National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2
- Promoting the wider work of Cambridge United Foundation across the city.
- Ensuring the protection and safeguarding of all participants and the general public, reporting any incidents and/or concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer as required.
- Attending training courses relevant to the role and maintain ongoing personal CPD.
- Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the Senior Leadership Team of the Foundation.
Person Specification
The postholder will be an individual who is passionate about the immense power of sport to inspire and engage. They will be dedicated to supporting individuals develop their overall wellbeing and to recognise their full potential. This role requires a proven track record of coaching people with a range of disabilities, tailoring sessions accordingly.
Education and Qualifications
Essential
Good standard of education in English and Maths -GCSE level.
First aid certificate (or willingness to undertake)
Current safeguarding certificate (or willingness to undertake)
Current driving licence, with use of own car
FA Level 1 football coaching
Playing for Inclusion module 1 (or willingness to undertake)
Enhanced DBS with barred lists check on appointment
Desired
Degree in related subject area
Relevant Level 2 certificates in coaching
HLTA qualification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
Ability to deliver engaging and supportive programme sessions
Knowledge of the PE National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2
An understanding of safeguarding children and adults at risk regulations and DBS requirements
Knowledge of Cambridge and its surrounding areas.
Desired
Experience and passion working in the education sector, especially within school settings
Experience of working in diverse communities, understanding and overcoming the impact of discrimination
Knowledge and understanding of Premier League Primary Stars
