Position Title: Communications & Engagement Co-ordinator
Reports To: Fundraising Manager
Job Purpose
The Communications & Engagement Co-ordinator plays a key role in raising Clan Childlaw’s profile and strengthening engagement with our growing community of professionals, partners, and supporters. This role blends communications with promotion and coordination of our training and membership programmes, helping to ensure that our expertise and impact reach the people who need them, and empowering children and young people in Scotland to use their rights to improve their lives.
Working closely with colleagues across Clan Childlaw, the postholder will lead on day-to-day communications and content creation across digital channels, coordinate the delivery of our training and events, and support the growth of our Lawyers for Children membership network.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communications & Digital Engagement
- Develop and deliver engaging content for Clan Childlaw’s digital platforms, newsletters, and promotional materials.
- Manage and grow Clan’s social media presence, building an active online community that reflects our mission and values.
- Maintain and update the website, ensuring information about our services, training, and membership opportunities is clear, accessible, and up to date.
- Work with colleagues to produce compelling stories, blogs, and multimedia content that showcase our impact and amplify the voices of children and young people.
- Promote Clan’s events, training sessions, and initiatives, ensuring consistent, professional, and creative messaging across all channels.
- Support internal communications and ensure alignment across teams.
- Build relationships with media outlets and partners to secure positive coverage and expand our reach.
2. Training & Events Coordination
- Coordinate Clan Childlaw’s training programmes for legal professionals, frontline practitioners, and others who support children and young people.
- Plan and schedule the annual training calendar, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with organisational priorities.
- Oversee logistics for training delivery, including booking venues, managing digital platforms, and preparing participant materials.
- Attend and support training sessions to ensure smooth delivery and a high-quality participant experience.
- Gather and evaluate feedback to inform continuous improvement of our training offer.
- Contribute to the development of new online and digital learning materials.
3. Membership Network & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support the ongoing development of our Lawyers for Children membership network.
- Coordinate membership communications, onboarding, and engagement activities, providing a responsive and positive experience for members.
- Monitor and report on network activity, identifying opportunities to strengthen engagement and grow membership.
- Develop targeted campaigns promoting the network to new audiences.
- Maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant records on our CRM system to support communications and reporting.
- Build and nurture relationships across Clan’s networks, representing the organisation in a professional and approachable manner.
4. Fundraising & Organisational Support
- Contribute to fundraising and awareness campaigns by creating engaging copy and visual materials for appeals, newsletters, and donor updates.
- Support the development of impact stories and case studies for grant applications and reports.
- Collaborate with the fundraising and development teams to align communications with income-generation goals.
Person Specification
Essential
- Enthusiasm for Clan Childlaw’s mission and a strong commitment to children’s rights.
- Experience in communications, digital marketing, or related roles within the charity, legal, or public sector.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating training, events, or membership programmes.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail and tone.
- Skilled in using social media, email marketing, and digital content tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe, CMS platforms).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with creativity and precision.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills, able to build relationships with ease across diverse audiences.
- Confident with data and evaluation - able to monitor engagement, interpret analytics, and use insight to improve communication and training activities.
- Understanding of GDPR, digital accessibility, and brand consistency.
- A collaborative, proactive approach and commitment to ongoing professional development.
Desirable
- Experience within a children’s rights, legal, or advocacy organisation.
- Knowledge of charity fundraising and membership marketing best practice.
- Understanding of digital learning and online training tools.
