Role Purpose
Lorillion is an advanced engineering and R&D centre dedicated to sustainable electrification solutions and clean energy technologies. With expertise in control systems, power electronics, energy storage, and electric powertrain integration, Lorillion supports various sectors including automotive, marine, aerospace, and energy storage. The Chief Engineer Thermal Systems will lead and manage all aspects of thermal systems development. They will lead the development, verification, and validation of advanced thermal systems, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring adherence to industry standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering innovative solutions for various applications, including automotive, marine, aerospace, and energy storage, supporting Lorillion’s mission of advancing sustainable electrification technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage thermal system development activities.
- Plan and manage the resources required for project delivery, including recruitment of required technical personnel.
- Oversee the specification, design, development, and validation of thermal systems.
- Develop systems that ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
- Lead thermal system level failure and fault analysis and reliability testing.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers, covering all aspects of thermal systems
- Integrate new technologies and methodologies to enhance product offerings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
- Work closely with Commercial team to take account of strategic market and business needs and to align technical solutions with overall company strategy and objectives.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication of technical requirements and deliverables.
- Act as the primary thermal systems technical interface to both internal and external stakeholders, managing technical discussions and ensuring customer requirements are accurately captured and addressed.
- Evaluate technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project objectives are met and both technical and commercial opportunities are maximised.
- Ensure all technical documentation are accurately maintained and released in line with company processes.
- Support business development activities by providing technical expertise during customer and supplier interactions and promotional activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance engineering efficiency and quality.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:
- A degree or similar qualification in an engineering discipline
- A sound understanding of engineering, physics and applied mathematics and your application to solving real world problems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Able to prioritise and manage multiple projects and tasks effectively.
- Relevant experience in leadership of the development of thermal systems.
- Proven track record in delivering thermal systems into complex production projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with technical project planning and delivery.
- Relevant industry experience to support a leadership role. Strong presentation, report writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Location and Travel:
- You must be eligible to work in the UK and have no restrictions for world-wide travel.
- This role is based at our Head Office in the Midlands, with flexibility for remote working.
- Working hours are 0900 to 1700, including 30-minute paid break 5 days a week, however frequent travel is expected, and flexible working patterns are essential to the role.
