Location: Remote (with regular travel across the South of the UK)
Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Reports to: COO
Is This the Right Role for You?
You’re commercially minded, motivated by making things happen, and ready to play a key role in growing something meaningful. You enjoy creating new opportunities, building relationships that last, and working across teams to get deals over the line, and done right.
You know what good looks like in business development: clarity, trust, results. You’re confident navigating technical projects, communicating value to different stakeholders, and staying focused in a fast-moving environment.
This role gives you real scope to lead growth in one of the UK’s most exciting infrastructure sectors, and to do it in a business that walks its talk and backs its team.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Business Development Manager for our Southern region, you’ll be the driver of growth across the region. This isn’t about cold calling or quick wins, it’s about building a healthy pipeline, nurturing the right partnerships, and connecting clients to solutions that genuinely work.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Lead generation & pipeline building: Identify and qualify new opportunities across residential, commercial, and renewable infrastructure projects
- Client development: Build trust with decision-makers; understanding their priorities and presenting bespoke solutions that align with their goals
- Deal conversion: Work closely with internal teams to scope, price, and secure contracts that are commercially viable and deliverable
- Market insight: Stay on top of regional and sector-specific trends, using insight to shape strategy and anticipate client needs
- Cross-functional collaboration: Align with design, pre-construction, and delivery teams to ensure smooth transitions from proposal to project
What You’ll Bring
You don’t need to bring the whole list but if the following sounds like you, we’d love to start a conversation:
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in business development or client-facing commercial roles
- Strong understanding of utilities, infrastructure, or construction industries
- Ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly
- Skilled at building relationships, qualifying opportunities, and closing deals
- Proactive, self-directed, and driven by clear outcomes
Bonus if you have:
- Experience working with developers, contractors, or independent connection providers (ICPs)
- Familiarity with the electricity, gas, or clean water sectors
- An understanding of DNO/IDNO relationships, GIRS/WIRS frameworks, or regulated connections

You’ll be part of Alconex Infrastructure & Solutions Ltd, a fully accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP) delivering the seamless installation of electric, gas, and clean water infrastructure. Our in-house team covers everything from technical design to operational delivery, supporting a wide range of residential, commercial, and renewable projects; including EV charging and battery storage.
