Job Purpose:
The Autism/ADHD Sheffield Hub Peer Support Worker will use their lived experience of autism and/or ADHD to provide empathetic, practical, and strengths-based peer support to individuals accessing the hub. The role focuses on reducing isolation, increasing confidence, and supporting individuals to better understand and navigate their neurodivergence. You will be to work as part of a team which specialises in delivering one-to-one and group support to adults and young people (16+) living with Autism and / or ADHD, playing a fundamental role in the day-to-day delivery of the service.
Hub sessions are in-person and virtual (inc. evenings and Saturdays am)

The successful applicant will also receive ongoing support and regular supervision from ADHD/Autism Sheffield Hub Team Manager, together with day to day support provided by senior management and Sheffield Mind colleagues.
The ADHD & Autism Hub Peer Support Worker will link with a variety of key stakeholders including:
- Service Users, their families and professionals
- Statutory organisations and VCSE organisations
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Peer Support Delivery
- Provide one-to-one and group-based peer support to autistic and/or ADHD individuals.
- Share lived experience appropriately to build trust, connection, and mutual understanding.
- Support individuals to identify personal goals and develop coping strategies.
- Promote self-advocacy, autonomy, and wellbeing.
Group Facilitation
- Co-facilitate peer support groups, workshops, or drop-in sessions.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment.
- Encourage participation while respecting different communication styles and needs.
- Experts by Experience (EbE) Participation – Quarterly advisory groups, codesign, and consultation, supporting Team Leader
Signposting and Advocacy
- Provide accurate information and signposting to local services, resources, and opportunities.
- Support individuals to access services, including healthcare, education, and community resources.
- Advocate where appropriate to help individuals’ voices be heard.
Community Engagement
- Contribute to outreach activities to raise awareness of the hub.
- Help build connections with local organisations and communities.
- Support the co-production of services with people who have lived experience.
Safeguarding and Boundaries
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while working from a peer perspective.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns as required.
- Ensure confidentiality and data protection standards are upheld.
Administration and Teamwork
- Maintain accurate records of support provided.
- Attend team meetings, supervision, and training sessions.
- Contribute to service development through feedback and reflective practice.
Other Tasks
- Liaise on behalf of and represent Sheffield Mind as appropriate.
- Actively participate in supervision with your Line Manager.
- Support and contribute to the charitable and fundraising work of Sheffield Mind as appropriate.
- Any other tasks that can be reasonably expected that are within the scope and spirit of the job.
