About the role
We’re looking for a motivated and relationship-focused Account Manager to join our sales team for a 12-month fixed term maternity cover contract.
In this role, you will play a key part in managing and developing a portfolio of clients within the education and commercial sectors, helping them connect meaningfully with The Student Room’s audience. You will be responsible for developing strong client relationships, delivering effective campaigns, and identifying opportunities whilst maintaining clear focus on driving revenue growth forward through renewals and new business. Our products combine advertising, social engagement and insight to help organisations connect with our student audience.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the business and report into the Head of University Accounts, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing sales function.
This is an interesting, varied and fast-paced role. If you enjoy building relationships, really understanding client needs and delivering tangible results, this could be a great fit.
What you’ll be doing:
As an Account Manager, you will:
- Manage and develop a portfolio of client accounts, building strong, long-term relationships
- Identify growth opportunities through renewals, upselling and new business activity whilst being passionate about our products
- Monitor and meet revenue and KPI targets, reporting regularly to your manager
- Develop and deliver engaging, effective sales presentations and proposals in writing, online and face-to-face that provide a clear message to all existing and prospective clients
- Develop clear territory and account plans, including client development goals
- Work closely and collaboratively with internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of client campaigns
- Ensure all CRM, pipeline and sales activity log requirements are completed efficiently and thoroughly
- Share client and market insights to support internal stakeholders
About you:
This role would suit someone who:
- Has experience in a client-facing sales or account management role
- Is confident and experienced in working to targets and KPIs
- Builds strong relationships and can connect and understand different types of people
- Communicates clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders both face to face, in writing and through delivery of effective presentations.
- Is organised, proactive and able to successfully manage multiple priorities
- Is motivated, resilient and tenacious, with the ability to stay motivated and focused despite setbacks or rejection
- Is naturally curious, asking insightful questions to uncover client needs and identify opportunities
- Has a strong desire to learn and improve, proactively developing their sales skills and market knowledge
Whilst you don’t need to meet every requirement to apply, it would be great if you also have:
- Experience in digital, media or online advertising sales
- Experience working with clients in the education sector
- A degree or equivalent qualification
