Role title: Coach Development Analyst
Department: Academy 
Reports to: Head of Coach and Player Development

Hours: One day a week, plus matchdays

Role summary
Cambridge United Academy is offering an exciting Coach Development Analyst Internship opportunity for individuals interested in developing skills across both coaching and performance analysis within a professional academy setting.
This role supports the coaching programme from U9 through to U18, using video, data, and match/training observations to inform coaching decisions and support player development. Interns will work across all phases (Foundation, Youth Development, and Professional Development) and will contribute to a modern, evidence-informed environment.

What you’ll gain?

• Development of practical skills in coaching, video analysis, data collection, and football insight
• Exposure to the real-world application of analysis tools in player and coach development
• Deeper understanding of how data and video support individual learning and team performance
• Structured feedback and mentorship from experienced analysts and coaches
• Opportunities to build a portfolio of analysis work for future career opportunities
Key role outcomes
• Film and capture training sessions and matches across all academy age groups (U9–U18)
• Use video analysis tools (e.g. Veo, HUDL, Coach Paint) to tag key moments and extract relevant footage
• Assist the delivery of coaching sessions both at team and individual levels
• Support the creation of player development clips, learning reviews, and coach feedback tools
• Help coaching staff use analysis to inform session planning, match preparation, and individual development plans
• Organise and manage digital content libraries (video, stats, reports)
• Observe coaching delivery and reflect on the use of data in coaching practice
• Attend internal CPD events and contribute to multidisciplinary performance reviews
• Design a measuring and tracking tool to evaluate the effectiveness of our coaching methodology capturing both quantitative and qualitative data across key areas of impact
