The opportunity

WBR Group is looking for an experienced Financial Crime Analyst to join our Risk and Compliance team.

This hands-on role will support our financial crime compliance framework through customer due diligence, screening, monitoring and case review activity across a regulated professional services environment.

Working closely with the MLRO and colleagues across the wider business, you will apply regulatory requirements and internal policies consistently while helping the organisation manage financial crime risk effectively. You will also contribute to the review of higher-risk and more complex matters, supported by appropriate oversight.

What you’ll be doing

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting standard and enhanced due diligence on new and existing clients, including individuals, companies, trusts and politically exposed persons
  • Reviewing customer due diligence, source of wealth and source of funds information
  • Providing clear guidance to colleagues and escalating gaps or concerns appropriately
  • Conducting sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse media screening
  • Reviewing and investigating screening and transaction-monitoring alerts
  • Supporting periodic client reviews to ensure records are current, accurately risk-rated and supported by complete information
  • Contributing to the ongoing monitoring of higher-risk clients
  • Providing analytical support to the MLRO on higher-risk and complex cases
  • Assisting with internal suspicious activity reporting and financial crime risk assessments
  • Maintaining accurate records, case notes and management information to support reporting and audit readiness
  • Responding to financial crime queries from across the business
  • Contributing to financial crime awareness training where required
  • Keeping up to date with relevant UK legislation, sanctions requirements and supervisory guidance
  • Supporting regulatory reporting and the wider Governance, Risk and Compliance team.

What we’re looking for

You will need:

  • At least two years’ experience in financial crime compliance within professional services, financial services, legal services or another regulated environment
  • Good working knowledge of the UK anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing framework
  • Practical experience of KYC, customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence reviews
  • Experience of reviewing more complex client structures, including trusts, partnerships and offshore entities
  • Previous experience using screening platforms
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to make well-reasoned decisions within established policies and escalation routes
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to provide practical guidance and escalate concerns appropriately
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

A relevant compliance qualification, such as the ICA Certificate in Anti Money Laundering or an equivalent qualification, would be desirable but is not essential.

About you

You will be a diligent and proactive financial crime professional who can balance detailed analytical work with practical support for colleagues.

You will be comfortable taking ownership of core processes, applying policies consistently and using appropriate judgement when reviewing more complex matters. You will communicate clearly, work collaboratively and maintain high standards when handling sensitive or confidential information.

Why join WBR Group?

This is an opportunity to develop your financial crime expertise in a varied role covering due diligence, screening, monitoring, higher-risk reviews and regulatory reporting.

You will work closely with the MLRO and wider business, contributing to the effective operation of the Risk and Compliance function while continuing to develop your technical knowledge and professional experience.

The role can be based at our Leicester, Salisbury, Bolton or Bristol office, with hybrid working available. The successful candidate may be required to complete credit and DBS checks as part of the recruitment process.

If you have financial crime compliance experience and are looking for a varied role where you can develop your judgement, take ownership and make a meaningful contribution, we would be pleased to hear from you.
