Project Intern: The Essentials Hub
Location / Setting: University of Central Lancashire (UCLan)
Partnership: Students' Union & Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership
About the Role
Are you passionate about sustainability, student welfare, and community building? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Project Intern to join
The Essentials Hub team!
Unlike day-to-day retail roles, this position focuses on the growth, development, and strategic impact of the project. You will play a key role in expanding our support network, empowering fellow students with practical life skills, and building partnerships with external food co-ops to share best practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Support Services & Resource Collation: Research, gather, and curate comprehensive information regarding student support services and community events to make resources easily accessible.
· Workshop Development & Delivery: Design and facilitate engaging student support sessions—such as budget planning and cooking masterclasses—to help students navigate cost-of-living challenges.
· Networking & Collaboration: Reach out to external food co-ops and community organizations to build strong connections, foster partnerships, and exchange best practices for reducing food waste.
· Project Development: Contribute creative ideas and strategic input to help scale the Essentials Hub and enhance its overall impact on the student community.
What We Are Looking For
· A current student who understands the realities of student life and the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis.
· Strong communication and organizational skills, with a friendly, approachable attitude.
· An interest in community leadership, sustainability, food waste reduction, and student welfare.
· Self-motivated and excited to take ownership of developing workshops and community connections.
Why Get Involved?
By joining the Essentials Hub team, you will gain hands-on experience in project management, community outreach, and event coordination—all while helping us support the environment and ease financial pressures for your fellow students. No judgment, just support and real-world impact!
This role is for 6 hours a week and is flexible around your studies
