Location: Working in the Devonport Creative Quarter (Devonport Guildhall and Market Hall)
Hours: 35 hours to be worked flexibly including evenings & weekends to suit the needs of the business
Salary: £25,500 - £28,000 depending on experience

Pathways, delivering employability support; Liskeard Library, a library and cultural hub; Nature and Neighbourhoods, our consultancy service; and the Devonport Creative Quarter, growing the createch sector, creative careers, businesses and opportunities. 

Job Purpose 
The Operations & Events Assistant will support the organisation and set up of Devonport Creative Quarter’s diverse programme of activities and events across the Devonport Market Hall and Devonport Guildhall. This includes operating dome screenings, setting up spaces for events and workshops, welcoming customers and ensuring health and safety compliance across the public programme. 


Main duties and responsibilities
 

  • Be responsible for operating the immersive dome for public screenings and other activities.  
  • Coordinate and complete room and space layouts appropriately for bookings, workshops and events in Devonport Market Hall and Devonport Guildhall. 
  • Provide a point of welcome for those hiring spaces and other users of our buildings. 
  • Support general health and safety and building checks, including fire alarms. 
  • Support visitor accessibility and inclusion, ensuring all visitors feel welcome and can access spaces and facilities. 
  • Support the Dome, Events & Operations Manager with event logistics and work with the Operations and Admin Assistant to support setup and smooth delivery of room bookings, workshops and events, including assisting with technical equipment including AV, the immersive dome, and co-ordinating room resets.  
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of public and back-of-house areas.  
  • Be part of a rota team responsible for secure opening and closing procedures for both buildings, complete venue safety checks, report incidents, hazards, and building concerns as needed.

Experience:
  • Experience in reception, administration, or customer service roles. 
  • Experience managing bookings, diaries, or scheduling systems. 
  • Experience with administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and correspondence. 
  • Experience working in education, cultural, events, or community settings (desirable). (Application/ interview)

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of administrative systems and office procedures. Understanding of booking systems and calendar management. 
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices. Basic understanding of financial administration including invoicing and record-keeping.

Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with welcoming manner.
