Job Purpose

The Director of Fundraising will provide strategic leadership of Cardiff City FC Community
Foundation’s fundraising and income generation function, securing sustainable and diversified
income that enables the organisation to deliver and grow its impact across Wales.
The postholder will lead the development and delivery of the Community Foundation’s fundraising
strategy and oversee all charitable income streams, including corporate partnerships, community
fundraising, philanthropy and strategic funding opportunities.
The role is accountable for delivering ambitious but sustainable income growth, strengthening
partner relationships, embedding an evidence-led approach to fundraising, and ensuring effective
stewardship, governance and compliance across all fundraising activity.
As a senior ambassador for the Community Foundation, the Director of Fundraising will represent
the organisation externally, build strategic partnerships and contribute to organisational strategy
and long-term sustainability.
This role requires a collaborative and adaptable leadership style, with the ability to work across
stakeholders and balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery where required.

Organisational Context
The Community Foundation operates at the heart of Cardiff City FC’s community engagement,
leveraging the football club’s brand, reach and profile to support fundraising, partnerships and
social impact delivery. Clear governance boundaries ensure the Community Foundation maintains
operational independence whilst benefiting from strategic alignment and brand association with
the club.

Income Strategy Overview
The income portfolio is currently diversified across grants, corporate partnerships, philanthropy
and community fundraising. The Director of Fundraising will further develop and balance this
portfolio, with a strategic focus on increasing unrestricted income, strengthening multi-year
corporate partnerships, and growing high-value philanthropic and grant funding streams.

Impact & Performance
Work closely with the Head of Impact & Insight to ensure evidence underpins fundraising activity
and reporting. Translate impact data into compelling narratives. Produce performance reporting
and use insight to inform strategic decision-making.
